Big Canoe Marina and Lake Life

The Marina offers a variety of rentals, including pontoon boats, paddleboards, kayaks, and jon boats. The Marina Shack also provides fishing permits, tackle, bait, and rod-and-reel rentals, along with Big Canoe merchandise, soft drinks, beer, and wine.

Electric-powered pontoon boats and jon boats are available for hourly rental at the Lake Petit Marina. To protect the natural environment, only electric motors are permitted on Big Canoe lakes, helping reduce both fuel impact and noise pollution.

The community features five scenic lakes offering water recreation and fishing. Lake Petit, the largest at 111 acres and nearly 100 feet deep, is home to the Marina and its iconic dam. Lake Sconti is located behind the Clubhouse, while Lake Disharoon anchors the Beach Club area. Blackwell Springs and Toad’s Pond, two smaller lakes in the Waterford subdivision near the North Gate off Wilderness Parkway, round out the collection.
Access to Blackwell Springs and Toad’s Pond requires a fishing permit for non-Waterford residents.

Big Canoe Marina Fish Shack

Tucked along the shores of Lake Petit, the Marina Fish Shack is a favorite spot for anglers and lake lovers. Here, residents and guests can pick up fishing permits, bait, and tackle, rent rods and gear, and get advice on the best spots to cast a line. It’s also the go-to place for snacks, cold drinks, and friendly conversation before heading out on the water. Whether you’re an experienced fisherman or just introducing the kids to their first catch, the Fish Shack is a welcoming stop that makes lake days easy and enjoyable.

FISHING

Big Canoe is widely regarded as Georgia’s premier trout fishing destination. Fishing is permitted with a Big Canoe fishing license or day pass, available at the Marina Shack, where bait and basic fishing supplies are also sold. A Georgia fishing license does not apply within Big Canoe and is not required to purchase a Big Canoe license.

Lake Petit is regularly stocked with rainbow trout. Trout fishing is catch-and-keep only; released trout are not permitted. The Marina will accept any unwanted catch. The daily limit is four trout per fishing license.
